Knee Twist - M1 Schumann 5

Continuing the discussion from Thoughts on Injury Recovery:

Hi, I’m new to posting, so I hope I’m posting this in the right place… my apologies if not. My experience with my M1 and severe knee Injury recovery is as follows: I received my M1 in 2021 and used it extensively at the time, read lots from the site and was much impressed and enjoyed the conversations between Bob and his friend which were very informative. I think these have since terminated, sadly missed…

At the time I was full of good intentions to write a review of the good I was receiving from my use of the M1, then life happened… I put the M1 aside and forgot about it until recently when I had a bad knee joint strain or twist arise from a minor incident that mirrored a mountain accident from decades ago, and I remembered the M1 and was delighted to find it hadn’t been discarded on me.

I have been using it now for the last c.1 month and it’s been transformative, diminishing the pain, soreness and inflammation once I tracked down how to use it again. After reading a response from Bob indicating that the Schumann prog works well for some, I tried it as I had originally set my unit on Omni 11 and never changed it. Once I reset it to schumann 5, power c.9 from memory, the response was phenomenal in my case and has been my regular weapon of choice as I continue to work daily in a physical job requiring a lot of mobility in my knee. Indeed even after a major osteopath work-over on the knee, 2 weeks in, that she warned me would normally see a significant increase in pain, the M1 kept everything fine and dandy with no significant increase. I don’t use drugs or painkillers so there is no muddying of the waters with me. The M1 and Schumann 5 programme is doing the job I hoped it would do, reducing, inflammation, pain and swelling, and when the battery ran out during the day the stiffness and soreness would gradually return, so a direct relationship exists between the benefits received and the M1 usage. I used the unit while at work and at night but sometimes the battery would run out for several hrs and the pain would come back gradually. In the early days i was away for 2 days and forgot to bring the charger. By day 2 I was crippled again as the batteries had drained and the sitting immobile at the lectures and getting up occasionally had the joint very painfully locking again. Once I got home and recharged the unit, it quickly eased out the pain again and freed up my mobility and over the weeks since it’s gradually healed the damage without painkillers. I did use an IR and redlight combo lamp also but less consistently for 20 mins once or twice /day, and while good and beneficial it is not significantly responsible for the healing from the M1. In the last 24 hrs I have put the M1 aside as I didn’t want to use it while working outside in the rain and on a farm where I was walking through manure which would have been the end of the unit if it fell out of the stretchy wrap worn outside my workpants. The great news is that the pain and now occasional twinges are almost gone, unless I bend the knee back fully which I think the osteopath indicated was a result of injury to the crossed over ligaments within the knee joint itself. She felt I had trapped and pinched the cartilage which was my main issue. Strangely I had slipped and badly twisted my knee several hrs before my appointment and once the excruciating pain died down, I was surprised to notice that I could put my weight on the affected foot again. I had noticed that I had been like a hen standing on one leg most of the time, hoping that the good leg wouldn’t give out, which was very tiring on the good leg. It seems the additional fall may have freed out the trapped cartilage in the osteopath’s view. In the original mountain accident the knee was twisted with great force that felt like it was being twist off, arose when I was hit by a wind from nowhere that was frog marching me over a cliff until I dived for the ground at the last moment to catch onto something and the wind did the damage to the one leg still firmly planted on the ground. The injury “healed” at the time but it was strange that a minor situation brought back the old injury as if I had to relive it to heal that long forgotten severe injury once and for all. Sorry if this is long winded, but Bob, you and your ICES and M1 deserve a hero’s honour in my view, for the healing that I’ve experienced, thus I’m buying the P9 version to allow me have the full 24hrs battery life or longer rather than using 2 camcorder battery charges/day.
