11 years, 18kg Bulldog Intervertebral Disk Disease - B5

Hi everyone,

I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who has used the B5 with a dog with IVDD.

My dog is 18kg and has IVDD in his lower back. Before using the B5, he could still walk, although he was very wobbly and had some weakness in a hind leg. He was also toileting normally. He’s on strict cage rest and my vet has said surgery is a last resort due to his age and breed.

I’ve been using the B5, A9, Omni and Schumann programs on the B5 throughout the day, mainly over the lower spine , at intensity 8–9. He really likes it and I do feel it has helped with his pain, he’s no longer showing signs of pain.

However, his walking has been very up and down since I started using it, and today he actually couldn’t walk. This is obviously worrying me, as he could walk before I started the B5.

Has anyone experienced this with IVDD? Could I be using it too much, or is intensity 8–9 too high? Should I be using fewer programs or less time?

I’m not saying the B5 is causing it, but the timing has made me wonder if I’m doing something wrong. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through something similar.

I have an 11 year old Rottweiler that has similar back issues. He has not been truly diagnosed with IVDD, but probably bulged a disc. He experienced difficulty walking (rear legs) initially. This happened 1 year ago. I have a P9 unit that I have used to provide nearly 24 hour treatment. I have it set to Omni8 at 13-15. I modified a surgical recovery suit to allow me to place coils to target specific locations. Between the combination of the P9 and occasional Magnawave sessions, he has regained much of his mobility and stability. He is not back to normal, but he does walk very well. I posted pictures of my dog in the modified suit.

That’s super, please post pictures.

On a related note, our friend’s dog got got into raisins. She caught it immediately and got him to puke everything up, but for good measure, I loaned an A9 and taught her how to keep them on his kidneys until he is in the clear over the next 4-5 days.
