Using C5 in a flight and international airport security concerns

Hi,

I want to use my C5 on an international flight- plugging it into the USB charger port they have for each seat. I want to make sure it’s ok to do this. Are these in flight USB chargers usually 5V and will it be ok to use the C5 in flight? Are there any issues anyone has had with using their C5 device in flight? Or other advice?

I read in some posts that folks didn’t have an issue with TSA or security screening (I assume most were domestic US flights). But I wonder about international flights- if I carried this device with me through places like Turkey or India where I have seen additional security checkpoints for carry ons- I wonder if they would see this device and try to discard it and the language could be a barrier too in trying to explain what it is. Does anyone have experience or advice on this internationally? I sure wouldn’t want anyone to try to throw my precious device away.

Thanks

It’s really impossible to say. It depends on a lot of things, such as the attitude of the TSA person at the moment they see it in your carry-on: some will not care, others will make you throw it out, others may flag you for additional security checks.

And flight regulations change all the time and without warning. For example, I was boarding a flight in Atlanta the moment they banned carry-on liquids. Everyone in front of me got to bring their bottled drink onto the plane, everyone behind me had to throw their drink out in the trash. And no one in the airport can tell you ahead of time when and how the rules will change. Sorry I cannot help with this. I do not think any person anywhere can give you a definitive answer.

I’ve flown internationally extensively over the past couple of years, often with my A9 and/or P9 actively running on my person. I just turn it off & put it in my jacket pocket or in my laptop bag while going through security screening. Never had an issue. But like @Bob said- you never know.

I do the same on flights. Just did a consulting trip to Reno early December, took a P9 with me in my carry-on, no issues.

But you never know, TSA can be very inconsistent in what they allow and what triggers them.
