USB power apmerage for M1

I’m aware that USB chargers come in different varieties as far as strength/quickness of charging/amperage.

When powering the M1 off of usb instead of battery, is it safe to use the higher amperage “quick charge” type chargers?

Is there any other amperage considerations to be aware of when selecting the right USB power source, to make sure the device goes un-injured?

Thanks!

The key thing to be sure of is that the voltage is rated as “5.0 V”. This is USB standard. Cheap chargers can fluctuate higher and lower, and sometimes this will damage a device.

The current rating (Amps) tells you “How much the charger can deliver”.

Chargers do not force this amount of current, they simply will allow it if the device (the electrical “load”) wants to draw this current. But it is the device (the load), not the charger, that determines how much current is to be drawn. This is very basic electronics.

The B5 or C5 devices will never draw more than 2 Amps so long as you do not damage them with excess voltage. So, it is OK if your charger can deliver more than 2 Amps, but be sure that it never delivers more than 5 volts.

Thank you! I will make sure that the charger does not deliver more than 5 volts!
