The square pad

Hi all,
On the a9 rings the side with bumps faces out but what about the square with the 4 connected rings?
Neither side has bumps, but 1 side has tiny holes.
Is it the side with the tiny holes that faces in?
That is the way I have it because on the rings the bumpy side doesn’t have the tiny holes and the other side does.
Thank you in advance

The single coil has bumpy and non-bumpy sides because you might “sandwich” a joint or body part between the coils. In that case, the key is to ensure “flat to skin” on both sides so you don’t inadvertently do flat to skin on one side and bumpy to skin on the other which can reduce effectiveness. In reality, you could put bumpy to skin on both sides and have same outcome, but it is easier to remember “flat side to skin”

For the “square with the 4 connected rings”, you can put either side to the body and it will work fine - you aren’t at risk of “cancelling out” (those this is not a technically correct description) the signal since you don’t have a second “square with the 4 connected rings” to also put up on the body opposite the other one.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply, that makes perfect sense.
Just out curiously, would that mean one could also use the coils both bumpy side down? Not that I would just think it makes sense.

Great - glad that helped. Yes that is correct. You could put both coils bumpy side to skin OR both coils flat side to skin.
