Suggestion for ICES Device, please

Hello,

I am looking to buy an ICES device and no nothing about what I am doing. I have Lymphadema in two limbs and I am also presently dealing with Runners Knee (RK) in the afflicted limbs.

During the course of my ‘RK’ dignosis, I met a lymphatic therapist who told me about a former patient of hers from a highly reputible hospital in Boston who was able to do away with wearing her lymphatic compression garmemt becuase she slept on a magnetic therapty mat and wore a bracelet.

This brings me to a ton of research over the last few days and here I am. I believe I need to buy a ICES device -only I have no idea which one. Can I apply it to my limbs? I sthere a manual that tells for how long I wear / use it for? I was envisioning a mat so I am confuised as to how this works? Is it a wrap? Can I address my lymphatic issue and RK at the same time?

Any advice is appreciated and thank you in advance.

Stay well all - J

Welcome to the forum. I have used the M1 for a multitude of ligament and joint issues and found it to be absolutely fantastic.

There are other posts that speak to A9 (more affordable, portable but a little bigger and doesn’t have a wide range of protocols for those that like to experiment) versus M1 (hyper portable and has a wide range of protocols). Using default settings would be fine on either device.

I don’t think of ICES PEMF improving lymph drainage. However, I use a vibration plate to help with that. I have had very good experiences with the owner of this company https://www.vibrationtherapeutic.com/linear-vibration-plate.html and own a couple of the linear units (I use them at 30 or 40hz for 10 minutes once or twice a day while standing or semi squatting). He stands behind his product and has excellent customer service and warranty support (as does @Bob with his ICES PEMF units). The vibration plate also helped strengthen the muscles that stabilize my knee cap. I hope this helps. Please report back to the forum your findings.

Hi. Thought I would chime in. I had breast cancer 10 years ago and all of my lymph nodes (except one was missed) on my right side were taken out. I have had Lymphodema in my right arm since.
I broke my elbow just under 2 years ago and my Lymphodema took off.

I have been moving and my elbow and arm have gone red and splotchy and very painful. I just noticed it 2 or 3 nights ago. I have been sleeping with my arm elevated but I finally broke down and slept with the M1 on last night (arm elevated). It actually looked pretty good this morning. It was less red, less sore and when I went to the doctors this morning he said he did not think it was infected and told me to keep doing what I was doing. So I think even once the redness and soreness goes away I will still continue with the M1 and try and get my sleeve on in the morning (I have not worn my sleeve since I broke my elbow because my arm ballooned up).

I used to see a lymphatic drainage specialist but all that went out the window with Covid. Anyways…that is my experience with the M1 and lymphodema.

Hi Zippy123. I just wanted to let you know that my lymphodema issue in my right arm has resolved. I have been wearing my sleeve since October 23. I used an M1 on my elbow (uses only one set of coils) on the omni8 protocol. But I also have an A9 (which can run 2 sets of coils) which has only one protocol, which is Omni 8.

If you can elevate your legs at night, put an A9 on and then put on compression garments maybe that will help. It certainly helped me. I had 2 doctors stumped over what was going on, one gave me a steroid cream and offered up antibiotics. Then 3 days later between the M1 at night, elevating my arm at night and compression during the day, all of the rash, redness and heat is gone.

If you do decide to get a machine definitely put it on your knee. That probably is not helping at all to resolve your leg issues.

Sorry I meant put your compression garments on first thing in the morning (I am sure you know the drill…).

Thank you so much for this fabulous and detailed reply.

I appreciate the Information and will research.

Be well - J

Thank you so much for this. I’m sorry to hear about the lymphatic challenges but an encouraged by your response to PEMF.

I hope this continues to improve for you. I’m getting up the courage to try / buy. I tt Dr. Pawluck last week. And he suggested a machine between 2500 and 4000 Gaus. Whatever that means - lol.

Please keep me posted and thanks to everyone who has replied. Be well

I have had lymphedema in right arm for over 30 years. Nurse injected into flesh thinking it was my vein. Fast forward took a few times to get really sick - red splotches over right arm - to learn.
It’s like cellulite. N I had to take antibiotics non penicillin.
Started using high dosages Vit C: daily 2k n 8-10k+ if cold or anything else - we humans do not reduce vitamin C.
Few months ago I switched over to VitC complex and taking that.
It is the first time in a while I got my right arm inflamed n fever.

When you use pemf and I have M1(mostly used due to battery life) n A9, where do you apply the coils?
Currently I apply it wherever it hurts - nodes under arm, elbow inner n outer

Would like to hear your strategy.

Thank you and best!

Hi Aardvark- I applied the coils (M1) to my elbow and just under the elbow on the outside of my arm (between my elbow and my armpit). I left it on all night and kept my arm elevated. It worked great. I have never had my arm get so inflamed before.
I have not needed to use it on my arm since then. I use it on my knees at least 2 or 3 times a week. I am trying to lose weight and when I walk on the treadmill my knees hurt. But when I wear my A9 on both knees I can go pretty fast (3.7 mph!)

Also I wanted to note I always use a low power Omni 8 (L on the A9 or 5 or 6 on the M1).

Thank you for your reply.
I started using pretty much 24/7.
First time in 2-3 years. It happened so it inflamed n I got bad fever. Lymph nodes inflamed and painful. It is better now. 2 days pemf on most painful places.
My right arm is like thermometer/barometer in terms of when something coming over.
In the past I’d have to take 5 day course antibiotics. I did get to know the problem and got on supps. Mostly Vit. C. Over last 8-9 years.
Nodes I applied to are under arm, and places on out elbow and inner elbow towards the bend and after. My forearm has been puffed up for ages.

Also, re walking, if it might help.
It does prevent injuries. Called Knees over toes. Dude trains athletes etc. Ben Patrick I think his name. Lots of info online. From him. I don’t do basics but on tread mill I walk backwards for 5-10 minutes. Got upto 2.6 miles tops. Started slowly. Walking backwards swinging arms feels awkward hahah.
You can do more load and simply force/push idle treadmill with your feet away as if walking backwards while holding onto handles. That really makes me tired faster.
All about training muscle groups that are not normally in use.
