Potential meaning and description of ICES power level settings

Hi all,

a long time I have tested and thought about the meaning and the workings of the different power-level. I think they are “fluent”, like on a kaleidoscope or a rainbow. Its not “this or that” but a smooth process going from one core quality to another and having a “blend” while doing so.

So the descriptions of what the power-levels (calibrated to stacked coils) in my opinion do is presented in the table below.

I would be happy on feedback - meaning if “you” have discovered something similar - maybe one or 2 settings “off” but reflecting or negating! the concept, I would be happy if you leave a comment. Maybe @Bob has also some ideas on this.

Level 6-7:

  • Physical level
    • Stimulates and builds motor functions of the nervous system and nerves, digestive fluid (promotes digestion), mild stimulation of tissue;
    • Energizes muscles, intestines and pancreas (alimentary tract);
    • Builds strong tissues, organs, bones, teeth;
    • Activates lymph system;
    • Depresses spleen.
  • Energetic level
    • Initiates processes, cements / increases cohesion, assimilates / multiplies / grows.
  • Mental / Emotional level (when used at the head)
    • Cheering; Illuminates emotional issues through thinking; Stimulates mental activity, learning and comprehension; Intellect; Overcomes discontent.

Level 7-9:

  • Physical level
    • Stimulates, e.g. digestion;
    • Builds muscles and tissues;
    • Balances the brain and entire physical body; Eye problems, Diabetes;
    • Clears diseased tissue and cells; Blood Clots, Tumors, Ulcers, Cysts;
    • Decongests lungs (used for colds and fever);
    • Kills germs, Bacteria.
  • Energetic level
    • Cleansing, detoxifying, disinfecting, loosens / dissolves / destroys detrimental energy and matter; Antiseptic, Detergent; Brings equilibrium.
  • Mental / Emotional level (when used at the head)
    • Equilibrium, soothing, relaxing, sedative, Contentment, tranquility, helps precision work.

Level 9-12:

  • Physical level
    • Reduces skin problems (itching, soothes skin irritation and abrasion), reduces fever, inflammation, pain, hemorrhoids, warts, infection, sexual excitation;
    • Used for all conditions requiring cooling, reduced heat;
    • Stops bleeding, encourages blood clotting;
    • Strengthens testicles, helps with menopause;
    • Builds flexibility.
  • Energetic level
    • Contains Energy / contracts / localizes, inhibits activity of organs / chakras / motor functions,
    • Sedative, anesthetic, cooling, soothing, induces sleep and rest,
    • Builds vitality (through building Yin reserves, not Yang stimulation).
  • Mental / Emotional level (when used at the head)
    • Reduces hyperactivity, promotes quietness and reserve, reflection, relaxation.

Level 12-15:

  • Physical level
    • Helps production of phagocytes (cells that destroy foreign matter and micro-organisms;
    • Decreases bleeding, abcesses, secretions, discharges, hemorrhages.
  • Energetic level
    • Astringent, contracting, condensing, sedating, pain reliever.
  • Mental / emotional level (when used at the head)
    • Lessens excitement and over-activity, opens the mind to deep spiritual spaces.

I will run this by our very gifted Hari acupuncturist who loves his P9 (and uses it in his practice) and see what he says.

Thank you so much! This will be a big help since I have little idea at what power level does what. Great reference point!

You are welcome. I may add that this is an experimental association that I currently have based on segments of Omni8. There is still the aspect of the number of Pulses per Second (PPS) which may have a meaning by themself.

Best,
Hans

I think this is an excellent overview.

I’ve been reading this paper on use of PEMF to mitigate fat build up in the aorta of atherosclerosis prone mice. Xu 2025 used a variety of different field and frequency settings and did not see that much difference. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/pmid/41309549/ You have to go to the supplemental data to see the comparisons. The authors did not see that much difference. I’m trying to get into online teaching and am trying to turn this paper into a mini-course in MoodleCloud with a discussion of each figure. I think this group could give this paper a good critique. .

I did not read through the study because it seems to miss important parts:

  • Coil charcteristics & distance to object.
  • Mentioning dB/dt in T/s in instead of T
  • No depiction or description of the wave signal used

This study is not repeatable, not clearly described, gives no details whats really done, its basically worthless.

What I did described here is only relevant for ICES. It may be, in some way, applicable to other PEMF systems. But one has to be aware, that PEMF is a general term and not all what is named PEMF may be beneficial.

Best,
Hans

Hans, there are some massive problems with this paper. For starters, the authors want to pin the mechanism of action on the TRPV4 calcium channel yet use aminoglycoside antibiotics in their cell culture models. These antibiotics block TRP calcium channel family members. I may post my link to my review of the biology of this paper to the forum when I become more acquainted with the Moodle platform. I’d like to hear more from the hardware folks like yourself. I found the biochemistry lacking.

@hcf Our gifted Hari Acupunturist agrees with everything in your sheet except for Intensity Level 6-7, he says it helps spleen (does not depress spleen) but it does dip pancreatic function.

Hi again Hans, I’ve got my https://pemfbio.moodlecloud.com site up and running and allowing “students” to self enroll. I’ve only two classes now. One is that Cheng paper. I’ve gone through each figure and pointed issues I have as a biochemist. I’m opening up a forum for each figure for invited “students” to discuss their thoughts on what was done and should have been done. In honor to your objection to this paper, the passcode for this class is “NoWaveForm”

Hello Barbara,

Most papers are incomplete and draw wrong or incomplete conclusions on, at best, sketchy assumptions.

Biochemistry works on the densest plane of existence. But what animates the physical - or distorts it?

You can measure the physical effect of an emotion, but what is an emotion? How does it translate into biochemical things? Where is “the plan” that tells a cell in what to develop, when the DNA of all cells is the kind of the same? Who and where is the “maestro” that coordinates all? Where is the adaptive “memory” of immune cells located?

To unterstand PEMF i suggest you think of different planes of existence of the body: Physical, etherical, emotional and mental at least. This is what my lists tries to suggest to the reader. Its a different view on the world, which is still normal for more than half of the world and was it some 150-200 years ago even for us “in the west”.

Best,
Hans
