For the past month I’ve been using the c5 consistently on Omni 8- intensity 9 and putting the coils around my lower back. While there has been temporary relief of lower back pain and stiffness here and there, I notice that nowadays when I sleep and make any movements like turning over, there is a popping sensation in my back every time I make a movement. It happens so frequently now but I did not encounter this happening in the past around my back. I usually do yoga/stretches a few days a week as well. Does anyone have experience with this or know what could be happening after using PEMF consistently in this way? Does anyone have suggestions, possible remedies or ways to alleviate this issue? Thanks
Hi @Arisu, I had the same issue with my lower back when I started using/experimenting with PEMF. The way I sorted it out was to realize that PEMF can greatly reduce swelling. Sometimes joints are stabilized by swelling and when the swelling is reduced, the joints can become less mechanically stable. My thinking has been that it takes a long time for joints to readjust to a less inflamed/swollen state, because it takes time for the stabilizing tissues to change their size and shape to accommodate less swollen joints. Keep in mind that ligaments, joint capsules, articular surfaces, etc. adapt very slowly.
So my strategy has been to find the right balance with the amount of PEMF I use. I use enough to get relief and to help restore a normal (less-inflammed) state to the tissues, then I gradually let them recover over time. So by observing how your body is responding, you can increase or decrease the PEMF amount. For example, you can use a lower intensity, but you can also use shorter duration, and/or reduce the frequency of use. For example, instead of twice a day, consider once per day, or instead of 8 hours per day try 6 or 4 or 2 hours per day. The balance is to find the sweet spot where you get relief and progressive healing without doing too much too fast and end up destabilizing your joints, for example.
This process takes time and attention, but it works well for me. I hope this is helpful.
Yes thank you. This is reassuring. The possible swelling/inflammation piece and joints trying to stabilize and find their way in the healing is something for me to consider here. I was doing the default omni8 at 9 intensity for at least 2 hours a day morning and evening. But I think I should lower the frequency, intensity, and length of time so the healing is more gradual and stabilized.
So the changes I’m planning are: to lessen PEMF frequency to once a day only at night, at lower intensity 7, and to continue incorporating yoga/movement/walking along with the treatment to help integrate and align the body and joints. I’ll see how this works out. I think it’s an adjustment period as my body heals and adjusts to these frequencies
If PEMF is helping inflammation, it could mean that joint is moving more freely, shifting things around a bit perhaps. I have noticed this with my infarred mat and PEMF
Oh…Did you experience popping sensations too?
