Is pain after using PEMF ok? How to get better result

Hi, I only started using the M1 device and noticed that my pain got worse from using PEMF, same for my wife. She stopped using it for few days because of the symptoms. I still think it helps but is it possible that we are more sensitive?

The symptoms are following:

  • Joint paint on my ankle increased while wearing the device, tried low intensity, it’s better but still irritating. (currently running it on OMNI8 (Level3) at night time. It’s not as irritating but my sleep suffers.

  • My wife wears it during the day on hear hip and shoulder, the shoulder movement is now restricted and she stays awake during night and can’t fall asleep.

We have only used it 2 days and I believe in it just try to figure out how to use it to be beneficial and not contra productive.

Thanks for your advice

Here are my 2 cents and what I share with friends who buy ICES PEMF. I strongly recommend against using ICES PEMF during sleep when you first try ICES PEMF (unless you are deliberately wanting to try Delta with device under your pillow as some have reported positive results here). It kept me awake or I didn’t sleep well when I first started using it. Within several months, I was able to wear it all night long and have no issues.

I think it’s best to start with one or two hours to start with during the day and see how one feels and slowly work up time using the device.

Sleep is critical, so definitely adjust / keep experimenting with timing and interval to ensure proper sleep.

Many people have widely varying sensitivity. Initially try much shorter periods of use. As a beginning user, please do not just strap it on and go to sleep. Start “low and slow”. If you think you might be very sensitive, maybe try just 10-minute periods each day at low intensity, and build up as your tolerance allows.

In my opinion, @TajD @OptimalHealth @hcf and many others on this forum generally offer excellent advice.

when i start anything new… especially things in the category of natural therapy or alternative med, i have learned (the hard way haha) to start conservatively. i am guilty of being in that group of “more is better!” and relatively speaking that can appear to be the case (e.g., more sleep, more exercise, more regular (waste elimination), more water, more steak, more fruits…:upside_down_face:). and in the examples mentioned, “more” is usually better relative to what we’re already doing and prolly don’t get enough of. the point of this ramble is that there is a point of optimal measure (time, dose, frequency, total per period, etc) … being first time users of deliberate exposure to pemf and not knowing your limits or tolerance yet, your symptoms are clear indicator of overdoing it… good or bad remains to be determined, and welcome to your journey of bio hacking (self experimenting for better health) with pemf!

many people in the forum have noticed benefits from 15 mins of use to daily 30 mins sessions for multiple weeks for a variety of things from traumatic brain injuries to joint pain to helping vision to addressing inflammation of various parts of the body. that said, it has been my general experience with family and friends that for pain, it takes about 15mins of pemf exposure to notice some relief of pain. how long it takes to resolve completely varies on how old the injury is, severity of injury, type of injury, location of injury, exposure of stress to the area of injury (e.g., friction, weight bearing, use, etc), your personal biology and tolerances, related issues/conditions/disease and variables that affect what you’re treating…

then there’s this perception of discomfort that we refer to as pain. in one of my experiments, my goal was to apply pemf to my liver for the goal of exposing a leveraged point in my body for the benefits pemf has for reducing inflammation with hopes of general healing/repair where needed. in sleeping on a pad of coils all night at a medium high setting, i did wake up to an uncomfortable and painful sore back. this happened several times and i was puzzles how i didn’t start with any pain only to have it after sleeping all night on it. i didn’t like the feeling so i dropped the intensity and adjusted the positioning to the front… in hindsight, i wonder if prolonged exposure led to looser joints in my back in the morning that contributed to the pain i felt. the achiness was definitely felt in my joints. was that pain good or bad… maybe i should continue for experimental purposes to see if my body adjusts and it will go away… but at the time, that wasn’t my interest, goal… nor did i have the patience to find out.

longer story, short… try a more conservative (low and slow) progressive approach to using pemf on different parts of your body. like any good habit… it’s the consistent exercise, diet, therapy, etc that will get you the improvements in health that you’re looking for.

on a separate, but related note… my wife recently had joint pain in her knee for no obvious reason other than getting older and maybe from going the life stage changes🤔 … sometimes what we lack that our bodies need to be operating normally or even optimally is the root cause. she started supplementing with diatomaceous earth (de -food grade) starting at 1/4tsp and within 2 weeks her knee pain mostly resolved and by 1mo a distant memory.

Thanks so much for all the advice. Helped me to understand it better and how to use it.
