ICES for central vs peripheral pain

So there was a study with the Brain Gauge that shows how it could distinguish between central and peripheral pain in vulvodynia (I believe).

Should the ICES treatment for these two types of pain be different?

If I have to guess, for peripheral pain where there is local damage or disturbance of nociceptor function, you would directly treat the local area. But if the chronic pain happens through the rewiring of central neurons, could it be that we should treat the brain instead? Or does that simply mean that the ICES will not work and this is the 10% of the people for whom the device hasn’t work?

Anyone with “central pain” experience here?
