I am using an M1. The wires on the coils are beginning to 'fray" and one coil no longer works. This is occurring at the insertion of wire into coil. Will the unit still be functional/useful if only one coil is working? I assume now way to fix the problem other than replace the two coil unit. Thanks.
As long as one of the coils is working (green LED flashes when using the hexagonal coil tester, you can hear clicking sounds) then the unit is still working.
If you or someone you know are skillful at soldering and fixing things, you can use an X-acto razor to cut into the gray rubber coil at the point of the break (be careful not to cut the wires), then re-solder the copper wire to the detached black or red cable wire inside the black cable insulation. Use the hexagonal coil tester to verify your fix.
