Hello, I am totally blind, and I am wondering about getting a device.
From what I’ve seen the a9 would probably be best. But the biohacker in me wants the M1.

Just wondering how much I would miss out on if I get the a9.
Typical uses would be pain reduction, clearing Brain fog, also wondering about trying to help my mother gain her sense of smell.

I started with the C5 (mostly for my wife) and shortly after got an A9 for myself. After only a month or so, I was wishing for an M1, as the A9 only has the 1 (Omni 8) protocol. Of course Omni 8 is probably the best for most things and most people. But for certain things; sleep issues, depression / anxiety, perhaps Knee issues, brain entrainment, other protocols are better or more appropriate. Also some people find Omni 8 doesn’t work as well for them. So I ended up getting a P9 which hadn’t been available in like a year. The P9 is basically an update of the M1, using the 9 volt battery (like the A9) and around 30 different protocols, plus is has a built-in set of stacked coils, so you can use it without an external coil set plugged in if you need / want Also Bob has a recommendation for LiPO USB C rechargeable 9 volt batteries that have proven thus far to be excellent in use with my A9 & P9. In short, the A9 is amazingly useful and effective for me, but it’s use case is more limited than the M1, P9, C5, B5. Alternatively, you might get an A9 initially and then later get the P9 or other more capable unit. I find having a backup unit very comforting in and of itself.

Welcome to the community!

@gunplt has a nice answer on various uses of the M1. I think the A9 would be fine though for the use cases you listed.

However, if you want to use the M1, it could be that through counting how many times you press the buttons you can configure it to the protocol you want. Then you will likely get more familiar with the sound of the pulsing for that protocol as well. For example, I can hear the difference between the Omni 8 cycling versus Alpha.

Have you found the documentation with the order of the M1 protocols? I assume you have a text to speech editor and if needed, I can type the order of the protocols here (I think they are in a PDF somewhere linked on the site in a 2 column format).

I also have a bit of a biohacker spirit. I feel like if I had gotten an A9, I would have regretted not having other frequencies/programs later down the line. I feel like I made the right decision by buying an M1, if only to have that peace of mind.
Additionally, I have found that the very fast frequencies like Beta 3 and Gamma seem to be effective for applications of short duration.

Interesting point about the clicking sound being different for different settings.
I ended up finding a refurbished a9 on eBay that I couldn’t resist.

The best bargain around! I’ve bought 1 for myself, and 1 for my sister. I know I will be buying more.
